Comparison 1. cheaper, more expensive
- the comarative form is -er or more. After comparatives you can use than. For example: Going by train is more expensive than going by car.
We use -er for short words (one syllable):
cheap- cheaper
large - larger
fast - faster
We use more for longer words (two syllabes or more):
more modern, more serious, more expensive
Irregular comparative forms:
good/well - better
bad/badly - worse
as...as / than
Some more examples of comparison:
He is as rich as Sue. Sue isn´t as old as me. I don´t know as many people as you do.
I spent less money than you.
You are taller than me.
Superlatives - the longest, the most enjoyable
